According to a Consumer Reports research which was carried on the 4 main US carriers, Android leads the way in the smartphone niche.
For instance:
- AT&T ‘s top 3 smartphone included 2 Android handsets:
- Samsung Captivate
- Apple Iphone 3GS
- HTC Aria
- Sprint-Nextel’s top 3 smartphone are all Android based:
- HTC Evo 4G
- Samsung Intercept
- HTC Hero
- T-Mobile’s top 3 smartphone included 2 Android handsets:
- Samsung Vibrant
- HTC myTouch 3G slide
- HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile)
- Verizon’s top 3 smartphone are all Android based:
- Motorola Droid X
- Motorola Droid 2
- HTC Droid Incredible
This represents 10 Android phones out of 12, apart from one Iphone and one Windows device in the smartphone market. This classification by Consumer Reports was based on voice quality, ease of use, camera quality and battery life among other criteria.
Interestingly enough, Apple’s Iphone 4 did not make it, due to the reported “death grip” or antenna problem.
