The summer is going to be busy in blockbuster Android devices. From the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is due next week, to the HTC One to Sony’s Xperia Z device.
In the meantime thought, Sony just released the Sony Xperia ZL in Canada, a close cousin to it’s upcoming flagship device the Xperia Z. The difference between the two? The Xperia Z is waterproof.
Aside from this difference, the Xperia ZL is a very nice big phone with a 5 inch Full HD touchscreen. The ZL is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. If you need additional storage, you can always do so via microSD.
The Sony Xperia ZL runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with an update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in the work. The phone is really nice with a nice rectangle shape with a screen showing up on almost all of the device surface. Add to this an impressive 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and you’ve got yourself a really interesting device until the Xperia Z comes out.
In the meantime, the Sony Xperia ZL is available from different Canadian provider with prices ranging from $599 to $625 off contract. With a subsidized contract from Bell or Rogers you can snap an Xperia ZL for more or less $100 with a 3 year contract.
All in all, I would say that the Xperia ZL is a very nice looking device with a very nice screen. Clean, cut to the point with a nice design. If you can wait, you can compare it with the Xperia Z, the HTC One or even the Samsung Galaxy S4. But if you can’t it’s totally understandable. Such a beauty. Don’t you think?
