Samsung is coming up with some great high-end phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2. One area it is trying to cover though, is the mid-range level. As such, Samsung is introducing in Europe the Samsung Grand Duo and Simple, two large phones that are dubbed as affordable.
Unfortunately, affordability comes at a price, that is specs wise. The phones are 5-inches, nearing the phablet zone, and come with a dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU, with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of ROM. Memory is expandable thanks to microSD support.
The difference between the Grand Duo and Simple, is mostly between the fact that the Grand Duo can accomodate two SIM cards. I’ve always thought that this is a nice plus, often disregarded by manufacturers.
Software wise these Samsung devices will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Camera wise, you can expect a nice 2 megapixel front-camera as well as an 8 megapixel camera in the back. All this will be powered by a 2,100 mAh battery.
So exactly how much will this cost? Around 550$, not too affordable actually, but thats how it is advertised.
If you can tolerate the huge 5-inch screen, then you still have a winner, can’t go wrong with Samsung phones. I know I love my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for a fact. It’s huge but, it’s just such an awesome phone.
Back on track, these phones are available in Europe and will maybe make its way to America. How well it will be received in Europe will dictate it’s future market.
