Sony came out with two new NXT Xperia models during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona – the Sony Xperia P and the Xperia U.
First, the Sony Xperia P. This aluminium unibody smartphone will be available in three colors, namely black, red and silver. Sporting a 4 inch display, the Sony Xperia P delivers sharp images thanks to its BRAVIA Engine and WhiteMagic. What is WhiteMagic? This display technology allows your screen to adapt itself to any lighting settings to deliver the perfect image.
The Xperia P is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor with 16 GB storage. Camera wise, the Xperia P can record HD videos thanks to its 8 megapixel camera. Note that the Xperia P comes equipped with Near Field Communication technology, or NFC, a technology with lots of untapped potential.
In terms of connectivity, the Sony Xperia P connects to any DLNA enabled device or via HDMI.
This Android phone unfortunately will launch this summer with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, fortunately, Sony is already preparing its transition to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich shortly after its release.
What about the Sony Xperia U? This Android smartphone will also launch with Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a later update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later this summer. Boasting a 3.5 inch display powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, the Sony XPeria U is the little brother of the Sony Xperia P. Powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor, with 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of ROM, the Sony Xperia U is a compact phone with lots of features and a stylish design.
The phone will be available in black or white with pink and yellow interchangeable bases. On top of that, the phone will have a light stripe that will change colors according to different settings.
The Xperia U features a 5 megapixel camera that can capture HD videos and share them to your DLNA enabled devices.
With the new Sony NXT Xperia P and U, its nice to see some nice Android phones from Sony, just hoping that the Ice Cream Sandwich update won’t be too long. After all, Google already started announcing a release for its next Android OS version, 5.0 Jelly Bean.
