How does the iPhone 4S compares to current Android phones?

Now that the world knows about the new iPhone 4S coming October 14, the question is, is it really worth it?

As an Android fan and yes, as an Apple fan too, I had like many of us, high hopes for the iPhone 5. Unstead Apple came out with an iPhone 4S with so called new features. Agreed, some of the futures Apple is introducing are new, for them, not for the Android crowd. Here’s a highlight of these features or lack-off,

Dual-core processor. The A5 chip on the new iPhone 4S is bringing dual-core chipsets on the Apple handset, but some Android devices have already been running dual-core processor for a while now, for example the LG G2X. And lets not forget the upcoming Nvidia Kal-El quad-core processor due early next year. Now that’s hardcore processing.

– What about the new 8 megapixel camera? That is very nice thought, the original camera on the iPhone was just a pity. This new camera should bring the iPhone camera up to par with current Android phones such as the one found on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. But then again, Android manufacturers are already moving into the 3D camera cellphone, just look at HTC Evo 3D.

A new iOS? I guess its just like a new Android OS coming out. The Android world is still waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich that will first launch on the Samsung Nexus Prime.

– So how about Siri, your personal assistant? Even thought Android has an app on the Android market – Vlingo, that performs as a personal assistant, I must say that Siri does seems pretty neat. You may just look like a mad men talking to yourself, but still this looks like a nice feature.

iCloud? Pretty neat, but cloud storage is possible for android users from websites such as dropbox. Nothing quite like iCloud, but still, not a breakthrough feature.

– The iPhone 4S is now a world phone. Wow, really, that’s a new feature? Some Android phones such as the Spice Mi270 have even the ability to run dual-sim cards.

– The iPhone 4S will be missing out on 4G. That is not very good as more and more Android devices come with 4G, even a low entry phone such as the Huawei Impulse is compatible with 4G.

– How about the screen size? Most people don’t need a 5-inch screen size like the one found on the Dell Streak, but a good 4-inch size screen like the one on the Samsung Galaxy S2 would be very appreciated.

– Last but not least, NFC? Near field communication was one of the highlight in cellphone advancement this year, despite the fact that many European countries and Asian countries already use it. Google introduced its Google’s wallet this year and is planning to release more Android phones with NFC capabilities. I guess Apple is not ready for that yet.

After reviewing all this, I guess, I am ready for my next Android phone. I was waiting to see how the iPhone 5 would compare to current Android phones, but for now I’ll pass on the iPhone 4S. How about you?
