Leaked video showing Samsung Nexus S running Ice Cream Sandwich

Keeping secrets is a very hard thing to do. Apple keeps losing upcoming iPhones in the wild and now it seems that Google is following in the same footsteps.

An eBay buyer had a pleasant surprise when he ordered a Samsung Nexus S to find out that Google’s Android next OS, Ice Cream Sandwich was installed on his newly bought phone. Ice Cream Sandwich is the fusion of the current Android smartphone OS 2.3 Gingerbread with the Android tablet OS 3.2 Honeycomb. The result as shown in the video below is a new lock screen, with a new camera app. There are probably many more exciting features to be included, but thats all we can get from the short video. Note that Google cut down on the number of new features to be included with Ice Cream Sandwich. These features are postponed and are expected to be released with Android’s next iteration – Jelly Bean. The reason? Most likely due to the release of the iPhone 5 which is scheduled to make its first appearance on October 4th.

On the other hand, Samsung announced that it will hold a Samsung Mobile event called “Google Episode” on October 11. The Korean company will then release the Nexus Prime, first Android phone to be running Ice Cream Sandwich. Can’t wait to see this!

One last thing, if you’re wondering what happened to the phone of our poor eBay friend, well, after posting the video, the device has been remotely locked and wiped. That’s a costly price to pay for sharing the good news, don’t you think?
