INQ Mobile is among one of the first Android manufacturer to reconsider it’s smartphone strategy after the whole Google Motorola deal went through.
The European manufacturer is seriously considering switching from Android to Windows Phone. INQ Mobile has been producing low to mid range Android cellphones and is considering producing Windows based phones.
The reason? Like many manufacturers, INQ Mobile may believe that Motorola may have more of a competitive edge since it is now own by Google. Google became a competitor to Android manufacturers by acquiring Motorola Mobility.
Furthermore, it may cost more now to produce an Android phone after all the lawsuits Android is facing. Lawsuits are a big headache, just look at what Samsung is experiencing now with the possible ban of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Regarding the latter, Samsung’s chairman also reenforced the idea that it should from now on, improve it’s own Bada OS to be able to compete against Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.
Last but not least, diversification. Just like in the stock market, don’t put all your eggs in the same basket, because if the basket falls, you’ll lose them all.
Is INQ Mobile right to think about migrating to Windows based phone? As a manufacturer, I would think so. After all, they just want to cover their back and make sure they’re on the right track. No?
