A new variant of the DroidKungFu malware discovered earlier this year has been discovered by the same researcher at the North Carolina State University. GingerMaster as they call it, uses the latest exploits in Android 2.3 Gingerbread to infect Android devices.
The malware is not being detected by most anti-virus and is being repackaged into a file named gbfm.png (ie. Ginger Break For Me). The repackaged malware can then be installed by unsuspicious users and start sending your personal information to remote servers.
Currently, the GingerMaster malware have not been found in the Android Market. But make sure you know what you download and perform a scan on it before installing anything on your Android device. Most of us do it for computers, so why not for your smartphone?
