The Motorola Xoom has been the subject of many rumors lately. First, the rumor about the upcoming Motorola Xoom 2 with LTE, and now an update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb for the Motorola Xoom.
According to comments on Google’s support site, the Motorola Xoom should get the Android 3.2 update very soon.
The comment goes like this,
There should be a 3.2 update coming within days, and that should help those of you with XOOM.
The same Google employe even added this,
I can’t speak to features of upcoming releases; sorry. And I’d thought that the 3.2 release was already out, but I was mistaken; again, sorry.
It’s only natural for Google to release Android 3.2 Honeycomb onto the first Honeycomb device, the Motorola Xoom. Should that happen, it should be done OTA. Hopefully this update from Android 3.1 Honeycomb to Android 3.2 Honeycomb should resolve some missing features such as the ability to use the SD card reader.
This update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb, was originally announced for the Huawei MediaPad, the world’s first 7-inch tablet to run Honeycomb.
The Android world for tablets is divided into two Android OS versions, the 10.1-inch tablets run Android 3.1 Honeycomb and the sub 10.1-inch tablet run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Android 3.2 Honeycomb was especially designed for sub 10.1-inch tablets and could possibly run on larger tablet if the Motorola Xoom gets the update.
From the different Google rumors, it seems like its only a matter of a week or two if not less.
That’s a lot of updates for the Motorola Xoom in such a short time from Android 3.0 to 3.1 and now possibly to 3.2.
