Optus got an exclusive deal with LG to deliver its high-end Android phone, the LG Optimus 3D in Australia.
The Optimus 3D is an amazing phone. Featuring a 4.3-inch touchscreen, the Optimus 3D will be able to display and record 3D images without the need of special glasses. The phone will have a 1GHz dual-core dual-channel processor, with 8GB of memory.
The LG Optimus 3D will be running Android 2.2 Froyo at launch time, although the company claims that an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be available in due time.
This device will have two 5-megapixel rear-facing cameras for 3D shooting. If you don’t want to record 3D videos, it will use only one of the cameras. The technology used by the Optimus 3D is similar to Nintendo’s 3DS in that the phone is creating a 3D effect by showing different images to your left and right eyes. This will create a 3D effect, all this is done glasses-free.
The phone will also support HSPA+, HDMI and have hotspot capabilities.
The LG Optimus 3D is available in exclusivity from Optus starting next month for the retail price of $799. If you prefer, you can also sign up for a 2 year $59 cap plan from Optus and get the phone for free.
