Yesterday HTC stated on its UK Facebook page that the HTC Desire would not get an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The reaction from the fans has been tremendous, from feeling cheated to never buying again an HTC device, they were all over.
Just 24 hours later, HTC turned around and released another statement on its Facebook page,
Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire.
so there you go, sometimes complaining can make people change their mind.
What happens to the original issue? aka memory limitations? No word on that, but rest assure that the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread will certainly not leave HTC Sense UI on the side. If we don’t get the full HTC Sense UI 3.0 with this update, then we’ll surely get a trimmed down version of it.
It’s too bad HTC doesn’t consider more stock Android device, just like its first HTC Nexus One, or the out of stock LG G2x. Note that there’s a reason the G2x its out of stock, its one of the best Android phone, and its a stock Android phone.
So there you go, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is coming to the HTC Desire, final answer.
