Viewsonic just launched during the Taiwan Computex show (May 31st – June 4) the world’s first 7-inch Honeycomb tablet – ViewPad 7X.
The Honeycomb OS was primarily designed for 10.1-inch tablets. No sub 10.1-inch tablets were able to properly run the Honeycomb OS as incompatibilities were occurring mainly due to the smaller screen size. With the Viewpad 7x, Viewsonic officially won the race for 7-inch tablets running Android Honeycomb. All current sub 10.1-inch tablets are running either Android 2.2 Froyo or Android 2.3 Gingerbread, designed for smartphones. The ViewPad 7x will most likely come with Android 3.0 Honeycomb or maybe Android 3.1 depending when it will launch.
The ViewPad 7x, features a 1024 x 600 pixels touchscreen running on Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor. Dual camera with LED Flash, HDMI, DLNA home media sharing, HSPA+ wireless and Wi-Fi will be available on the ViewPad 7x.
Hopefully the ViewPad 7x will follow the ViewPad 7 which was a relatively inexpensive tablet.
And if you can’t make your mind between an Android or a Windows tablet, Viewsonic also released a dual OS tablet – the ViewPad Pro 10.
This tablet runs either Windows 7 Pro or Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo. Powered by a 1.5GHz processor, the ViewPad 10 Pro supports 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth. Viewsonic claims that the 3500 mAh battery will last you around 6 hours
Other than that, Viewsonic have not announced a price or release date for neither of these tablets. But we can assume that they should launch this summer.
