T-mobile just launched on April 20, the first 4G tablet to be available in the U.S – the LG G-Slate. This tablet is also the first 3D capable tablet to be available on the market, just a few months before the launch of the HTC Flyer.
The G-Slate screen size is 8.9 inch and will be able to display 3D content; note that in order to view 3D content you will need 3D glasses. Otherwise, the G-Slate can also display up to 1080p content via HDMI support. This will allow you to enjoy T-Mobile Live and on demand TV, shows, movies and magazines.
This powerful device is powered by a dual-core 1-GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The G-Slate will run on WI-Fi and on T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network, it will also include a gyroscope, an accelerometer and adaptive lighting.
And to test all these goodies, the G-Slate will come preloaded with Need for Speed SHIFT HD for you to test drive.
Dual cameras is setting in as the new norm and the LG G-Slate is no exception, with a 5 megapixels rear camera with integrated LED flash and a 2 megapixels front facing camera for video chats. But what is really special about the G-Slate is that the rear 5 megapixels camera is actually a dual rear 5 megapixels cameras, allowing you to capture 1080p HD videos in 3D. You can then watch your 3D recorded video with 3D glasses on your tablet.
The LG G-Slate retails at $749.99, but comes out to $529.99 with a T-Mobile two-year contract after various discounts from T-Mobile. This may still sound expensive, but note that the G-Slate is the cheapest among current competitors such as Apple’s Ipad 2, Motorola’s Xoom or even the newest Blackberry Playbook; but it certainly isnt a cheap competitor, not at all, its in fact probably the best tablet available right now.
