Samsung just announced the smaller version of its million selling flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The S4 Mini, itself the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, actually grew in size and is now featuring a 4.3 inch screen.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is a stripped down version of the Galaxy S4 introduced last month. It will have the same cool features as the S4 but on a less powerful but still very capable device. The reason of a less powerful device is that the S4 Mini is aimed towards people who still wants the greatness of the Galaxy series without having necessarily the need of all the power it possess.
The S4 Mini will be powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of ROM (expandable to 64 GB). The S4 Mini will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with feature updates in the work. The device will come equipped with two cameras, one 8 megapixel and one 1.9-megapixel. Various version of the S4 Mini will be produced depending on your region; rumors range from dual SIM to LTE.
The announcement comes at a time when Apple is preparing to release a low cost version of the iPhone this summer. It’ll be interesting to see how the S4 Mini will compete against the low cost version of the iPhone. For now, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is the best selling Android device which hit the 10 million-sale mark last week.
Hopefully the little brother will be as successful. Don’t you think?
