Sony introduced two new Android smartphones with functions usually only found in rugged phones that is the ability to withstand dust, shock and water. The two new devices, namely the Sony Xperia go (advance in the US) and acro S will be available this fall.
The Sony Xperia go will have a 3.5-inch touchscreen and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. The Xperia go will have 512MB of RAM with 8GB of data storage and 50GB of Box cloud storage available for a limited time.
The unfortunate part in all this is that the Xperia go will be running an obsolete Android version, namely Gingerbread 2.3. Hopefully, an Ice Cream Sandwich version will be available at the time of release this fall.
This triband or dualband phone, depending on where it is released, will have a 5 megapixel camera and will support microSD card and USB. The Xperia go will be available in three different colors, black, white and yellow.
So what’s so neat about the Xperia go? Well the fact that you can use it even if your fingers are wet, now that’s pretty cool.
On the other side, the Xperia acro S which is a little bit larger than the Xperia go with 4.3 inches and comes loaded with Ice Cream Sandwich.
Under the hood you’ll find a 1.5GHz dual core processor and an impressive 12 megapixel camera as opposed to the mere 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. By the way, the camera can record 1080p HD videos and according to Sony is ready for action in less than a second. Now that’s a serious camera, probably one of the best cellphone/ camera combination.
On top of that, the Xperia acro S is PlayStation Certified and is quadband ready with GPS function.
Add to this HDMI and USB ports and you’ve got yourself a pretty good smartphone available in three colors, black, pink and white.
Last but not least, and I’m surprised its not more advertised, is that the Sony Xperia acro S is NFC ready. It’s still one of the few phone along with other Sony Xperia such as the U and P that have an NFC chip for fast and easy payments.
Hopefully Sony will promote more these two phones as they display some very nice features that most phones don’t have.
