Toshiba preparing smaller and lighter tablet after the Toshiba Thrive – the AT200

Toshiba is preparing to introduce another Android tablet, the AT200. This tablet was first unveiled this week during the Berlin IFA show by Toshiba Europe.

The AT200 comes in as a smaller and lighter alternative to the current Toshiba Thrive. Consumers main complain with the Toshiba Thrive is due to its bulkiness. The AT200 is much smaller and thinner than the Thrive with a thickness of only 0.3 inches and a weight of only 1.2 pounds.

The 10.1-inch tablet, features a 1280X800 resolution and is powered by a 1.2GHz processor. The AT200 will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb and will feature like most tablets front and rear cameras. In terms of connectivity, the AT200 will have less ports available than the Thrive, which is the reason why it is smaller and thinner. The AT200 will feature Bluetooth, micro HDMI, micro SD, micro USB and Wi-Fi. Notice the full-size USB port on the Thrive is missing on the AT200.

The AT200 should provide you entertainment for eight hours and will be available by the end of the year in Europe. The Toshiba roadmap shows the AT200 Android tablet to be available at a later undisclosed time in the USA.
