One thing we all learned after the HP TouchPad frenzy is that people are ready to buy a tablet, but only at the right price. Well it seems like Lenovo heard the call and is preparing to launch its upcoming Lenovo IdeaPad A1 for only $199 this September.
For this price, you will get a 7-inch tablet running Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered by a single-core processor. Two cameras will be available for video chats and memory storage will be available up to 32GB.
Obviously the Lenovo IdeaPad A1 is no iPad 2. However it is priced very competitively and $199 for a branded tablet seems to be fair. To date, no tablets have been able to really dent Apple’s iPad 2 sales, besides the HP TouchPad thanks to its extreme price reduction. Will Lenovo be able to impose itself as an Android tablet?
Difficult but not impossible, we’ll see…
