Yahoo! phone coming to Japan thanks to Softbank

Softbank a local Japanese telecom company and owner of Yahoo! in Japan is preparing to launch an all Yahoo! phone.

The phone will be based on Sharp’s Aquos 009SH and will be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread underneath its Yahoo! skin. The Sharp Yahoo! device will feature a 4-inch qHD touchscreen with an 8 megapixel camera.

The Softbank phone will actually come loaded with some neat features that are common in Japan but not elsewhere in the world. These features include a digital TV Tuner, NFC and even Infrared communication. I guess technology is really more advanced in Japan. Other more common features include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Interesting to see an all Yahoo! branded phone running on Android, no?
