My biggest concern with Android phones is that there isn’t a week without the discovery of a new Android malware.
The latest malware discovered by the Trend Micro team is one that makes itself passes as the Google+ app.
Thought not very viral, the malware known as ANDROIDOS_NICKISPY.C tries to install itself as the Google+ app. The only way users can get infected by this malware is by downloading and installing it from suspicious websites. Even then, the malware can easily be removed by selecting it from the Manage Applications menu on your Android device.
What this malware attempts to do is record conversations, capture data sent and track users location. With all this data in hand, the app sends it off to a remote website where cybercriminals can study it.
In conclusion? Make sure what you download is from a trustworthy source and get yourself an anti-virus!
