Dell preparing update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb only for Wi-Fi version of Dell Streak 7

Dell is preparing an update to it’s Streak 7 tablet. But wait, there’s a catch, the update is only for the Wi-Fi version of the Dell Streak 7. If you own the 3G/4G version from T-Mobile, there is no plan for an update. This means that your beloved tablet is stuck with Android 2.2 Froyo, unless you root your tablet.

The update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb should become available next month over the air. This update will fix a few issues smaller tablets were facing such as displaying apps properly. Other improvements include better battery usage by the new Honeycomb OS.

I find it extremely disappointing when manufacturers announce that they will not update their device. It’s like not giving the consumer its money’s worth. Don’t you think? If you don’t plan on updating your device, how about then just producing stock android?
