Symantec is expanding it’s services to the Android mobile world with Norton Mobile Security Lite.
The free app joins other anti-virus apps such as Lookout mobile and AVG with services like data scanning, app scanning and update checking.
The Norton Mobile Security app will also ensure that the user’s browsing security is not at risk by detecting and blocking phishing websites. The app will eliminate potential threats before they have a chance to infect your device.
The basic version of Norton Mobile Security Lite is available for free in the Android Market.
Additional features are available for $29.99 per year. These features include remote locking via text message and remote wiping. With the remote wiping function comes the remote locate function for stolen or lost devices.
If you don’t have an anti-virus on your smartphone, you should really consider getting one as the Android world is still not a very safe world. Malware threats such as the Droiddream is real and you really don’t have an excuse anymore with all the free anti-virus available for free.
