Huawei and Telecom in New Zealand are introducing the very affordable Huawei X1 starting today.
The Huawei X1 is a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen phone powered by a single core 528 MHz processor with 512 Mb of ROM and 256 Mb of RAM. The X1 features Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera. It will also have Wi-Fi, HSDPA with up to 7.2Mbps download speed, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Huawei is available on Telecom for the low price of $199. As a side note, Optus in Australia is selling it for $99 or NZ $125, so yes things are still more expensive in New Zealand, but at least its not by too much. Or lets pretend it is.
