Acer has announced a global update (at least it is working in Australia) to its Android Iconia Tab A500. The update is scheduled to happen over the air (OTA) and all Iconia tablet owners will get a notification regarding the update.
The update will consist of an upgrade from Android 3.0 Honeycomb to Android 3.1 Honeycomb. The upgrade will increase system performance, better support for USB and Bluetooth devices like keyboards and mice. It will also improve Wi-Fi networking, Microsoft Exchange server support (ActiveSync) and include additional video file format support.
The Acer Iconia is a dual-core Android tablet competing against the Motorola Xoom. With this update, both tablets are running the latest Android OS.
