During an event in Munich, Sony showed its two Android tablets, S1 and S2. German website Golem captured a glimpse of the S2 Android tablet in action while snapping a picture of the S1 tablet.
The S1 Android tablet features a 9.4-inch touchscreen and will be a dual-core tablet. It will be able to play Playstation games as it will be a part of the Playstation Suite. The S1 Android tablet is reported to be very light with a weight of only 600g or 1.3 pounds.
The S2 Android tablet in the video shows the Android 3.0 Honeycomb interface in action. The Android interface seems to have been modified with Sony’s own UI, probably to take into account the two double 5.5-inch screens.
You’ll notice from the video that unfortunately, the middle hinge is somewhat of an eye-sore for the user. Hopefully we should be able to get used to it.
The S2 Android tablet reminds me of the yet to be released Imerj handphone/tablet as it also works around a hinge in the middle of the screen.
Both tablets are expected to launch this fall, around September probably. Pricing should be revealed by then as nothing official has been released yet.
