Vizio has started taking pre-orders for the VTab1008 better known as the Vizio 8-inch Tablet.
The original price of the tablet has been revised from $349 to $379 for the tablet only and for $399 you will get a case/stand/protector for the tablet along with a 16GB microSD card. Is it worth? Definitely its just $20 more and you get a case and a memory card. In comparison, the iPad 2 case costs at least $50 as an option.
The Vizio Tablet will be powered by a 1GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM. Like most sub 10-inch tablets, it will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread. No news regarding Android 3.2 Honeycomb yet on this device. This true multimedia device will have Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI, Wi-Fi and can be used as a super remote control via the built-in IR controller.
With the Vizio Tablet, you can control not only your Vizio TV but also any other brand. Now that’s awesome, mind you a little expensive for a remote, but such a cool function.
The pre-ordered Vizio Tablet will start shipping on July 18, the same day as stores will start taking orders.
