So there we go Australia, the Motorola Xoom Android tablet Wi-Fi version is officially out. Previously, the Motorola 3G Xoom tablet has been available through Telstra and Optus.
The new model, the Wi-Fi version will be the same as the 3G version except for the missing SIM card slot and 3G modem.
Timo Brouwer, managing director from Motorola mobility says,
The Motorola Xoom continues to be a great success for Motorola and we wanted to add to our portfolio the Wi-Fi variant to give consumers a choice,
The Motorola Xoom with Wi-Fi will have the updated Android 3.1 Honeycomb which now includes some basic key features such as Bluetooth support for mouse and a functional microSD card slot.
The Wi-Fi only Android tablet will be available for retail from $689 for the 32GB version. Note that this means that the Motorola Xoom tablet will sell for the same price as Apple’s iPad 2.
So ultimately this leave consumers the choice of owning an Android tablet or Apple’s iPad tablet for the same price. What will you pick?
