HTC has launched the HTC Flyer in India. The 7-inch Android tablet is entering a crowded field with competitors like the Apple’s iPad 2, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and BlackBerry Playbook already in the field.
The HTC Flyer features a 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of memory storage with a 5 megapixel camera.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread along with HTC sense make up the software side of the tablet. The HTC Flyer tablet also comes with an optional stylus pen for note taking or drawing.
With the HTC Flyer, HTC will launch its cloud-based mobile gaming service along with cloud gaming OnLive. Games on your tablet wherever you want against anyone you want, get ready for some serious action with this feature.
All this sounds very good, except for the price. The HTC Flyer is expected to retail for Rs 39,890 (USD $885). In comparison, the Apple iPad 2 retails for Rs 29,500 (USD $650) and the Samung Galaxy Tab for Rs 26,000 (USD $575). Why is it so expensive? Not a single clue, hopefully HTC will revisit its pricing strategy as this is going to be hard to sell.
