You thought the Vizio Tablet VTab1008 was cheap? Well Archos is also introducing two very affordable tablets – the Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9.
The Archos 80 G9 features an 8-inch 1024 x 768 touchscreen and the Archos 101 G9 features a 10-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen.
Both tablets are powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core OMAP 4 processor with 1 GB of RAM. The Archos G9 series tablets will have an impressive 250GB hard disk from Seagate. That’s the largest storage for a tablet currently on the market.
You can use this massive storage to enjoy 1080p videos on your TV via the HDMI output.
The Archos G9 tablets will also have the usual technical features common to most tablets, bluetooth, compass, G-sensor, GPS and Wi-Fi a,b,g, and n.
The Archos G9 tablets will have a USB port as well as mini HDMI port.
3G will be offered without the need for subscriptions throught Pay per use. Here Archos statement regarding 3G connectivity:
Both tablets are 3G-ready, meaning that there’s only one version instead of both a Wi-Fi-only and a 3G/Wi-Fi version. The one version supports Wi-Fi and can also support 3G with the addition of a USB dongle. The Archos G9 3G Stick is designed to fit into the back of all G9 tablets to get 3G connectivity. It costs $49 for the 3G Stick.
The Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9 tablets will be running Android 3.1 Honeycomb. To finish, Archos included a little extra with a kickstand on the back of the tablet so you can enjoy better viewing.
All this can be yours starting in September, for back to school at the low price of $279 for the Archos 80 G9 and $349 for the Archos 101 G9.
Now that’s called affordable and it seems like Android tablets are going to get cheaper and cheaper.
