Asus is coming out with a new type of device – a PadFone. The device is scheduled to be presented during the Taiwan’s Computex show later today.
Basically its a tablet with a docking station for your phone. So in a way, its turning your Asus Android phone into an Asus Android tablet. Tricky question, will it then run Android 2.3 Gingerbread or Android Ice Cream Sandwich? Because its just a mix of both, sometime a phone and sometime a tablet.
The docking system is behind the screen of the tablet. Once your phone in place, the tablet will provide cellular functionality. Otherwise, the tablet will work just with WiFi.
From the pictures we can estimate the tablet to have a 10 inch screen and the phone to be around 3.8-inch to 4-inch. The PadFone seems like it will use the smartphone camera in the back. Another camera in the front will be available for video calls. We can also notice HDMI ports and USB ports on the PadFone.
Other than that, everything else is just pure speculation as Asus has yet to release an official announcement.
