The Galaxy family keeps expanding, now with a midsize tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, has been caught in Russia by the folks from mforum.ru. The news came during an introductory event in Russia by Samsung, introducing the Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a tablet with an 8.9 inch touchscreen, and a dual core 1 GHz CPU. The tablet will have a 3 megapixel camera in the back capable of recording 720p HD videos.
For the moment we can speculate that at the time of release it will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS. It should probably get an update to Android 3.1 Honeycomb shortly after.
From the video below, you can have a glimpse of Samsung’s TouchWiz 4.0 UI overlay. The guys are talking in russian, but we can see that the tablet is very responsive and home screen transitions is very smooth.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will also come with some accessories of its own. Among those, will be a keyboard similar to the one introduced for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. The only difference seems to be that for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 the docking keyboard station will be in landscape mode.
