Google is everywhere. Dominant player in the web, Google is now taking over smartphones with its Android OS. Google unfold its next step during the I/O conference in San Francisco, and now Google wants to be in your house, with you.
That’s right, Google’s next project Android@home, is more like a home automation project. Google wants to control all electrical device a home may have such as a washer, light bulbs, thermostats, anything that Android could potentially control.
Android devices such as smartphones or tablets could then control anything electrical via wireless transmission or even USB, Wi-Fi or NFc.
Google’s Android@Home is an open protocol that should be able to connect and control any type of device, Android or non-Android ones.
No release date for this home automation is available yet. I suppose it would require a lot more testing before emerging into the market for the masses.
I think its great idea, but I think it needs to be extremely secure. Its not just about following your location, its about how you are, what you like and what your habits are. This whole home automation, is a bit like an invasion of privacy. Or am I just paranoid?
