AT&T is ready to expand its Android line-up. In partnership with LG, AT&T will launch on April 17 two Android handsets, the LG Thrive – a smartphone for AT&T Prepaid GoPhone service, and the LG Phoenix requiring a two year term contract.
Both phones will run Google Android Froyo 2.2 and have the same specifications. Main specifications are a 3.2 inch touch screen, Wi-Fi/aGPS capable, HSDPA and an expandable memory via microSD up to 32GB. This Quad-band phone will have a 3.2 megapixel camera.
The LG Thrive will be available in silver for $179.99. The Thrive is a prepaid smartphones, but to use it, you still need a GoPhone smartphone data plan.
Plans are as follow, 10¢ per minute or $2 per day for unlimited talk and text plan. But customers also need a data plan which are available as follow, $5 for 10 MB, $15 for 10 MB as well as $25 for 500 MB.
Is this a good deal? Depending on your usage, it could be; but as the need for data usage increase, so will your need for a better data plan. This is why LG and AT&T also introduced the LG Phoenix, similar to the LG Thrive.
The LG Phoenix is only available with a two year agreement at the price of $49.99.
Prepaid or postpaid? Either way, AT&T and LG are all set to serve you with either one of these Android phones. The choice is yours.
