In March 2010, Sony Ericsson launched its first Android the Xperia X10. It features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/190MHz), 32GB internal memory, 4.0-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, and an 8.1 megapixel camera.
The problem is, it launched with an already outdated Android OS, version 1.6. This new update from Sony Ericsson should please Xperia X10 users as it includes new features like HD video recording, autofocus, wireless connectivity through DLNA, 5 customized homescreens and a new phonebook.
The only drawback in this release is, that Sony Ericsson is once again two steps behind other manufacturers as this update is only version 2.1, and most manufacturers like Samsung and HTC should be rolling out Android OS version 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) if not Android OS version 2.2.
Hopefully for Sony Ericsson, everything should be up to date eventually in the first quarter of 2011, as new Android devices should be available and the Xperia X10 will come with pinch to zoom update.
