In a move similar to Amazon with its free app of the day on its appstore, GetJar is stepping up the bar by offering premium apps for free.
The GetJar program is called Gold service and is available to all Android users. Basically, this program offers users the chance to get for free a complete functional app that could cost them up to $9.99 on the Android Market place or the Amazon Appstore.
What’s the catch? Well, it seems like that for once there isn’t any. GetJar will compensate developers for each apps installed and is hoping that developers, advertisers and GetJar will get more exposure with this Gold service program as free apps are downloaded 10 to 20 times more than paid apps.
The free apps are carefully selected by GetJar and are among the best ones in their category. Available right now include popular apps like Age of Zombies, TuneIn Radio Pro, Solo and Splashtop Remote Desktop. The free apps are only available to the Android community. Apple users cannot enjoy this offer as Apple does not allow app distributors.
