Huawei introducing affordable Android phone in Singapore

Huawei is introducing a new Android line-up debuting in Singapore this month. After its successful Ideos collection, Huawei is back again with its affordable Android phones.

A total of three different handset will be available. The Boulder, a budget smartphone, the X3, a mid-range smartphone, and the X6 a high-end device.

First the Boulder. The Huawei Boulder is a Blackberry type of phone with a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard just below. The Boulder is powered by a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. Android 2.2 Froyo will be the OS on this phone. The phone will run on CDMA (1700/2100MHz) and GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) networks.

3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and A-GPS are available on this affordable phone. The device is set to launch in June for SGD $299 (USD $245) with no contract.

Huawei then introduced the mid-range Ideos X3 handset.

The Ideos X3 features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, running a 600MHz Qualcomm processor with 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM expandable via micro-SD card to 32GB.
The best feature this phone has is that it will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread at release time.

For the affordable price of SGD $299 (USD $245) with no contract, this phone will have a variety of features available mainly on higher end phones. For instance, the Huwei Ideos X3 can act as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
It will also have a 3.2-megapixel camera and Bluetooth.

The Huawei Ideos X3 should be available starting June 15 in Singapore.

Last but not least, Huawei introduced its high-end handset – the Ideos X6.

The Ideos X6 features a 4.1-inch touchscreen, running on a 1GHz Qualcomm processor with 512MB of RAM. Unfortunately, the X6 Ideos unlike the X3 Ideos runs on Android 2.2 Froyo. An update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be available later this year in Q4.

For now this phone will also be available in June for SGD $499 (USD $407). Quite impressive price for a phone sporting these types of features. Similar handsets from companies like HTC, Samsung or Sony Ericsson usually retail for more than $600.
