More info on Sony S1 and S2 tablets

Sony just released a news conference regarding the release of its 2 new tablets. The codenamed tablet S1 will have a 9.4 inch screen whereas its counterpart S2 will have two 5.5 inch screens.
The latter tablet, folds like a flip phone enclosing both screen in the center of the device.

These tablets S1 and S2 will run Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb, be Wi-Fi ready, run on 3G and 4G. Furthemore, they will be compatible with Sony’s own Qriocity network platform for media sharing.

One interesting note regarding the S2 tablet is that the lower screen can be used as a virtual keyboard or even as a gamepad for PlayStation games since the S2 will be able to run the PlayStation Suite.
Both tablets should come out this coming automn with more details on prices and specifications.

Sony’s Android tablets are very nice, hopefully they will be able to perform better in terms of sales than the Motorola Xoom which only sold 100,000 units since its launch date in February. Apple on the other hand has sold 500,000 Ipad 2 in just one weekend, now that’s amazing.
Android tablets manufacturers still have some work to do in order to gain more market share, but with tablets like the S1 and S2, it should just be a matter of time.
